Post Nº6: Postgraduate Studies

Hello again! Today I'm going to talk about my postgraduates studies. 

First of all, I'ts difficult to me to think about my future, because the future is impredecible, so, I'm a little bit scaried about think something and these thing will not happen. Anyways, If I started thinking about my future, probably I would work like a general dentistry for a few years, to beef up my knowledge and learn more about the sensation of help my pacients. After these years I would like to study again, a specialty, but I'm not sure what it could be, because I like two or three differents specialties (endodontics, radiology and pathology) and there are so differents! Also, these three specialties are not very known. Maybe I would study all of my favorite specialties, If I had the time and the money to do it. At the same time, I would work in another job to pay my studies, because the education in Chile, desafortunadly, its expensive. Maybe I would work like a dentistry as well, I don't know. I haven't thought about study an magister or a doctorate, but is an option and maybe It could happen! If I had the oportunity, I would like to travel to another countries to learn more, like Spain or United States for a exchange, but these things happen only in the movies right? or not? I don't now. 

Post Nº5: My Future Job

Hello again! Today I'm going to talk about my future job. 

First of all, how I choice this career? I was like 8 years old, when I went to the dentistry and he was so kind and lovely with me, I wasn't scaried at all, and he conveyed his peace, I was so relaxed in that. When my mom and I were in the house i said "mom, I want to be like him, a dentistry!" and that it was. In the future I would like to be like him, a dentistry able to transmit the peace and trust for my pacients, teaching a good health and promoting a good tooth care. I would like to go to the south, like valdivia or Villarica, or in sites where its difficult to attend because they haven't hospitals and somethings like that (like countryside) I would like to visit other countries to promote the good tooth care (dreaming cost nothing) and the salary I really don't care, if I am happy with my achievements, I don't care the salary. Obviously, I would like to study a specialty, like Radiology, because I like it so much and it's a interesting branche of dentistry! I would like to travel to congress for learn more about this, and above all, being a good dentistry for my pacients!

Post Nº4: A Sport I love/ I Sport I Would like to Practice

Hello again! Today I'm going to talk about the sport I would like to pratice, and its volleyball! 

Since I was a child I always liked to see the volleyball matches and the people playing it, but I thought it will be difficult to me because I wear glasses since I was 7 years old and one of the balls could hit me in my face so, I was so scaried. Also, when I was adolescent I watched a anime called "Haikyuu" that its about a volleyball team and its so inspirate for the people who wants to play this sport. I think its to difficult to learn, because the mesh is so high so you need to jump a lot, and you must have in a good physical condition for hit the ball and resist all the match. I tried in the first semester of this year but, it was to difficult to me, so if someone ask me if I want to try again, desafortunadly I will say no. I admire the people who can play this, like the national winners in beach volleyball for the panamerican in 2019, its difficult but not impossible!

Post Nº3: My Favorite TV Series

Hello again, today I'm going to talk about my favorite TV series. 

It's so difficult to me decide for some favorite serie, because I have too much! but If I need to choose only one, It will be a k-drama (or korean drama) It called "Weightlifting fairy kim bok joo" and its about a weigtlifter women (kim bok joo) who knows a swimmer (her future boyfriend) so, the k-drama relates the life of that girl, and the difficults that she has (like the sterrotypes for being a weightlifter women, or that she sould be a little fat) and in the same time, she knows about the love for the first time in her life! Also its so funny. I hace watched around 4 or 5 times? I dont know. It has 16 episodes and its soo good! I like this serie because its like a normal life of the people, although I like fantastic things too, but its ambicious (thats why I have watched for more 3 times, lol) You should watch this k-drama! and then tell me if you like it or not.

Post Nº2: The Best Holidays I've Ever Had

Hello! Today Im going to talk about my best holidays I've ever had. This happened in 2016, and it was my first time participating in the robotics team to which I belong. It was 6 weeks of work and effort, because after then, We needed to travel to united states and participate against more than 60 teams in LongBeach, Los Angeles, California. After those 6 difficult weeks, we were able to travel there with approximately 30 more people, and these travel was my first time going to another country, and without my parents! I traveled around 2 weeks and we went to Hollywood, Santa monica, A place like a Nasa museum and a school! where we were sharing with people of our age, teaching them spanish and more. We participated in the competition, representing Chile in this Regional with an other team more! but unfortunadly, we can't won that year :c (but in 2017 and 2018 we did it!) Currently I can't go to United States for the University, but It was a really unique experience that if I had the opportunity, I would repeat it.

Hello!Im going to talk about a country I would like to visit.I have a lot of countries I would like to visit, as Noruega, South Korea, Japan, etc. but, if I had to choose only one, it would be South Korea. The capital of South Korea is Seoul, its a beautiful place with a lot of tecnology. I have a lot of reasons to wanna travel to South Korea, but the principal is because their culture, its so different compared to ours! and, of course, their food, landscape and language. I like the korean language, their fashion style and more.

Han river 

If I have to choose two places, it would be the Han river, because in the night is beautiful and it seems like a relaxing place to take a moments with your friend during the day.

And the second place its a famous island. The place is called "Jeju island" and its like a big green volcano in the center. The korean programs always talk about this place as something wonderful and worth visiting, so, it would be interesting.

 Hello again! Today it’s the last blog and I’m going to talk about my experience using it in the English Class. First of all, I never had to write this kind of blogs, so, it’s something new for me, but, it wasn’t difficult to write about different topics, I don’t know why, the idea just comes to my mind and unconsciously I write in English about it, I don’t know how I can explain it! I enjoyed topics like “your favorite animal”, “your favorite picture”, and “your favorite style of music”.

 I think that is not necessary to write the blogs in class, it’s like a waste of time, because these are days that we can learn more about different things in English, and I’m not saying that the blogs aren’t necessary, I think they are, because we can apply our knowledge about this language and one day, we’ll be pro. I think my English skills have improved so much! I noticed it because before English III, I couldn’t write such long paragraphs! For the next level, in English IV, I think it would be good to have topics like “your favorite movie” or “your favorite dream” and maybe, we could see some documentary in English and then, comment about it. I think these topics are interesting and we could write with more details about something.

Hello again!!! Today I’m going to talk about my favourite place and it’s “el campo” in Cerrillos (Region de Valparaiso). I don’t know when was the first time I went there, because the site is of my grandmother’s so, I think it was when I was a little girl. I go there frequently, like one or two times per month and I always like it. The last time that I went, it was last Saturday. I like to call the site “el campo” so, when my grandma died, “el campo” was divided in four sites. One of the big sites is a forest and now it’s of my mother’s. Every time I went there, I run to the forest and I sit on some trunk, I see the trees and I relax myself. I really love this place, because I like to listen to birds and tree sounds, I like to see how the tree leaves fall when the wind comes in and it’s a great place to study! 

Also, I enjoy “el campo” because there are a lot of animals! I remember when I was a child, there was a lot of chickens, horses and more. Unfortunately something strange attacked them and they died on the same day. Weird? Yes. In this year there are just dogs, one of them is “Chamaco” and I really love to go there just for having time with him. In this site there are a lot of things that I really love, but It will take a long time to tell about all that. :(  

Hello again!! Today I’m going to talk about two subjects that have caught my attention.  The last year, in the second semester, we had a subject called “Bases Anatomicas y biologicas de cabeza y cuello” and basically it consits about a profundization of anatomy’s face and neck, the histological version of the face, muscles’s face, the teeth, etc.  When the subject started, I really hated it, because it was a lot of information and I didn’t have time for studying all. But, when I was studying for the second test (because the first test was about genetic things and I didn’t like that), I noticed that I was enjoying it, specially the histological part of the subject, because I like to see cells in the microscope. Also I really liked the teaching methodology in general, because the anatomy teachers are good teaching. In this subject, I learned a lot, however, it was difficult, really difficult! But, it isn’t impossible. That’s why I’m here in second year! 

The second subject that caught my attention it is called “Simulaciones para el ejercicio profesional I” because is the closest thing to what we’ll do in the future when practicing the career. It’s really difficult too, because the teachers are so strict and it works with firms, the practical part of the subject it’s more important and sometimes we can’t move to the next practical. However, I things that it’s neccesary, because we need to know how to do restorations and do those things well. I hope that we can pass the subject as well!

A carreer-related website / an expert on your field

Hello again! Today I'll talk about someone that I admire in my career, and her name is Maria Angelica Torres, better known as "kuki" in the faculty. I don't know much about her life, I only know that she is part of "departamento de patologia y medicina oral", and she teaches in the faculty, I'm sorry :c. I met her last year while she was doing a class, I really liked her way of teaching and expressing, so I did a little research about her, and I knew how smart and admirable she can be. She studied two careers (dentistry and medicine), and one of them was in France! Throughout the years, she has participated in more than 40 faculty courses as a teacher, has written a book and she has carried out research projects. Her classes are very entertaining, and she is very animated to do it, she expresses very well what she wants to say! I hope she doesn't change her teaching methodology, because it is very practical and would greatly help the future generations of the career.

Music

Like every wednesday, hello again! Today, I will talk about my favorite style of music. First of all, Why style of music? Because I have a lot of groups and solist of this music style that I love a lot, and I can't decide for one. So, Let's start! My favorite music style is K-pop (or Korean pop). I was five or six when I heard it for the first time on TV, and I loved it so much! My first song was "Twins" from Super Junior, and since this moment I started to search more about this music style. The rhythm is varied (like R&B, Hip-Hop, Ballads, electronics) and the lyrics of their songs are precious, that's why I liked it so much. I do not care if many people said that they look like the same, or they are gays, etc, because I know that their words will not change the way I think about them.

In 2011 I went to a K-pop concert for the first time, called Music Bank (A south Korean music program that visited our country) and six groups come to Chile. I really loved that day. Then, in 2012, I went to another concert (Super Junior's concert) and, in 2017 I went to two concerts more! (BTS and Seventeen concerts) Last year, I saved money and I bought my first album of a group, called "Love yourself: Answer" from BTS, it's one of my favorite album, I hope I can buy more :c

A PHOTOGRAPH YOU LIKE

Hello again! Today I am going to talk about one of my favorite photos that I took. Yes, one of many, because I really like to take pictures. I took it in 2018, on holiday in the countryside, Los Andes. As you can see, it shows nature, basically, with a contrast of the sun in the background, which causes a more special image for the mixture of colors. I really like to capture moments like this, when nature shows us its beauty, without filters or fixes. I feel that this image shows a lot and makes you feel many things, like tranquility. It looks like a wallpaper, right? I like to photograph nature, because it relaxes me and shows me how beautiful the world can be. Also, I like to take pictures of animals, landscapes, clouds, mountains and small things, like flowers. I would like to show you more pictures, but it will only be one for the moment!

Pets!

Hi again! Today I’m going to talk about my pets. My first pet was a Bird, her name was Jerry, and she was a green bird. Unfortunately, I was too young so I don’t remember much about it, I just remember the day when my parents liberate her. Then, around 7 or 8 years old, I had a Hamster! His name was Lucky, and he was so small and cute. Every night, he ran in his wheel and makes so much noise! I think Lucky was the first pet that I loved so much. That’s because, 4 years later, I was so sad when he died. 

In 2011 my parents gave me a dog, his name is Locky and He’s 8 years old right now. He’s so cute! We named him Locky because, when he was a puppy, he looked like an dog from an anime called Shin-chan. Here is a picture when he was 3 months, he is so cute, right? Now he is still cute, obviously. 

Now he's old but is very playful and lovely in spite of his age. He likes so much to catch slippers and run around the house, or to sleep every day with me. I hope he can live for a long time, because I love him so much.

Your favorite piece of technology

Hi!! Today I will talk about my favorite piece of technology, and it’s my phone! What it is? My phone is like a little notebook, because it has everything and I can do a lot of things that I like, as listening to the music, watching videos and taking pictures. I got my first phone when I was twelve years old, I don’t remember about it, I got my actual phone around three years ago, it’s a Motorola 3G but I don’t remember why I got it, maybe it would be for my birthday? I don’t know. The only thing that I remember it’s that day I was so happy. My phone is important to me, because with it, I can communicate with my friends that I don’t know (I talk with friends from other countries, like Mexico, Argentina, etc) and the University sends emails constantly , so, I spend around two or three hours per day. I like it, because it is like a little notebook, I can do everything with it. My life wouldn’t change that much if I didn't have my phone, because I am not depending on it. I would use my notebook for checking emails of the university or communicating with my friends on Facebook, I would take pictures with my camera, for example.  

Why did do you choose this major/study program?

When I was child my mom said “You should be a Doctor in the future or something like that” but I was around seven or eight years old, so small! So I didn’t know a lot about the future and majors. Also, I didn’t have dreams about what I should do in the future, I only thought to be happy. When I was 10 years old I went to the dentistry and the attention was so good, I felt great, and the doctor took care of me. He explained all the things that He did, so I felt very safe with him. My mom asked me if He was good with me and I said “Mom, I want to be like him in the future, I want to be dentistry” He inspired me. Since this time I decided to study this major.

  I like this university because they incorporate all the information for us, since basic things and more. And, we don’t have theology classes like at Universidad Católica. My experience studying this major has been so variable. Last year I was so stressed because I had so much of new information and pressure. This year is so difficult; we have a lot of challenges and a lot of study. It’s difficult to have time and relax myself, the stress is horrible, however, I still love this major. In the future, I would like to work in rural sites, with people that don’t have the access to go to the dentist and help them! Or maybe, studying an specialty like Radiography or Pathology.

My auto biography

My name is Angela Alvear Chavez; I’m 19 years old and I from Santiago, Chile. I studied elementary and high school at the school named San Carlos, of Quilicura. Currently I am studying odontology at an University named Universidad de Chile, It’s my second year, although, I’m a little bit tired. I have two siblings called Antonia and Ricardo, also, I have my mom, dad and my sweet dog. In these months, I tried to dance and sing a lot of songs, but it’s difficult because I have so much things to study so I don’t have time to do it. However, yesterday I went to the robotics team and I enjoyed myself a lot, I’m very nervous because we have to travel to United States for the First Robotics Championships in Detroit! I hope we’ll do well. My hobbies are to read books, learn different dances and, these days, I’ve been watching anime, painting and it’s very relaxing!
